Teacher input for 9th grade tech training

Teachers-

We are putting together the curriculum for the 9th grade tech training in August. We will be teaching Moodle and Google as they relate to iPads  We will cover reading and note-taking  features on the iBook . We also will teach  Digital Citizenship which covers online behavior, including behavior in the classroom, honesty policies, Turnitin, and social media. The  students have been directed to buy Adobe Reader and Notability, and we will teach basics of using these tools . Students will have purchased Keynote, Pages and Quick Office Pro HD, and iMovie, so we will do some basic practice in those programs.

What do you think is important for them to know? What should we emphasize? Are there apps which you like and are planning to use?

Please post herewith your requests/ concerns.
Freshmen teachers, we especially would like to hear from you if you've given the subject some thought.
Present Freshmen  teachers-- was there something we missed during last year's training?

Thanks for your input! Normally I have comment moderation on, as I use this blog mainly as a repository of good ideas for my own benefit and use, but I turned it off so you can comment without restriction.

WorldMapper

http://www.worldmapper.org/index.html

Serendipity is a wonderful thing . I was looking for something else and found this  site.  It has a lot of quality cartograms that give visual meaning to statistics.

Classroom idea:    Use these maps to explore  economic and social justice themes.
